AI Build Brief

5 prompts20 minute working sessionUse before an AI builder

Fill this in before you ask an AI builder for a site or app. It gives the builder real material to work with instead of making it guess what you mean by “a professional website.”

1. Name the exact person using it

Write a real type of person, not “everyone.”

Example: “A Chicago homeowner who needs a roof repair estimate after a storm.” My user is:
What they want to do in one visit:

2. Write the job in one sentence

Use this sentence: “Help a [user] do [task] so they get [outcome].”

Example: “Help a prospect request a credit repair consultation so they know what happens next.” My sentence:

3. Tell the builder what belongs on the first screen

For a website, the first screen needs a specific headline, short proof, and one button. For a tool, it needs the first piece of information a user enters and the action they take.

The headline or first instruction:
The button text or first action:
The proof, example, or result they need to see:

4. Define version one by what it does

Write the shortest working path. Example: “A prospect enters their project details, chooses a service, and sends a quote request.”

A [user] enters:
They click or choose:
They receive, see, or send:

5. Write what is not in the first version

Be ruthless here. Examples: customer logins, payments, a blog, advanced automations, a mobile app, ten service pages, or a dashboard. Leave one thing out so the first version can get finished.

I am leaving this out until the first version works:

Use this as your first prompt

“Build a [website/tool] for [user]. They need to [task]. The first screen should say [headline]. The main action is [button/action]. Version one only needs to [output]. Do not add [what you are leaving out].”
